Our current ferrets
Dino

Our resident male ferret, Dino
A big baby
Dino was born in September 2009 and is pretty awesome. He is a male and quickly outgrew our female Zoey who is older. He loves to be held and will many times fall asleep in your arms or lap when he is comfortable. He’s quite a baby. Like Zoey, he loves attention and will follow us on our heels from room to room staying in almost constant contact.
Every now and then he will pounce up and grab us by the ankle and playfully wrestle. He also can seemingly see ghosts or something. He will be running across the room and then – for seemingly no reason – jump up in the air and swipe at things that aren’t there. It brings a smile to our face every time.
To add to his antics and provide us entertainment, he will also frequently start his version of the weasel war dance. I will get a video of that posted here soon. The playfulness of these creatures is amazing.
Dino loves people, loves our pet dogs and is generally just pretty happy with everything.
Zoey
Cautious but loving
Zoey started out at a different home but the owners decided that they no longer wanted her. Their action of getting rid of here was very fortuitous for us. We don’t know why they gave her up, but we are certainly glad they did.
At first, Zoey was very skittish and quick to run and hide. Just entering a room or turning on a water faucet would send her running for cover. I’m not sure were this all came from (perhaps just a survival instinct) but she is over it now.
Zoey loves to chase us or Dino around and is very playful. Although she doesn’t like being held anywhere near as much as Dino, she will sometimes sack out in our arms for up to 20-30 minutes.
Like Dino, she love bath time and playing with the dogs.
She also has a heck of a time chasing empty Coke cans around the house.
It seems that Zoey is just getting happier and happier each day. She runs around the house making happy little chirping or dooking noises and never lets us out of her sight.
She loves Coke cans like some other ferrets on the web.
She is also extremely ticklish and will giggle like crazy if you touch her belly.
her previous owners have no idea what they are missing out on !
Update: Zoey escaped in St Clair Shores and she is greatly missed. We pray for her return.
Duke & Daisy
Duke and Daisy were surrendered to us in the end of July. They are just over 4 and 5 years old respectively.
Duke and Daisy came from a good home and were well taken care of by a very nice couple. As a matter of fact, it was their love and fondness of the ferrets that became the exact reason for their surrender. With children out of the house and grueling work schedules, the owners just could not spend the time with Duke and Daisy that they felt the furries deserved. Duke and Daisy were being confined to their cage for entire work days and spending less and less time free roaming. Unselfishly, their owners contacted me in an effort to place them in a good home.
Although Daisy and I got off to a rough start when she bit me, this has not happened again and they are fitting in great with Dino.
Although I do not know their personalities yet, I am sure that I will soon.
Bailey
I am pleased to announce the newest member of our brood …. Bailey. Bailey came to us as a rescue, and is a great addition. This poor gal was caged most of the time and her owner (mom and daughter) just couldn’t give her the attention and roaming time that she deserved.
Unselfishly, they gave her up for adoption instead of enduring a life of caged boredom. She (we think) is less than 1 year old and in fine health.
However, this gal is EXTREMELY skiddish. She is very quick to run and hide as soon as she is spotted. I’m not sure where this is coming from – but possibly because she has always lived alone and there is just simply so much going on around her now. She has a very sweet side and will sometimes cuddle on our lap and sleep for an hour or two (on the rare times she calms down).
I’m sure things will work out well, and we love her !
If anyone has some advice on getting her out of her scared little “shell”, I’d love to hear suggestions.
