Ferrets with other pets

A ferret and Pomeranian are friends
Compatability
In my experience, ferrets are fairly well natured and sociable with humans, cats and dogs. Your ferret will seek out attention from whomever or whatever is providing it. The exception is smaller mammals or rodents – more on that in a bit. Most of our ferrets have been very interactive with our household canines. The ferrets will chase the dogs and jumping on their backs when they catch them. The dogs usually respond by playfully biting back, wrestling or chasing the ferrets back under a coach. Back and forth, back and forth. This game can go on for extended periods of time until the dog’s incessant barking almost drives us nuts.
I have also seen a friend’s ferrets carried around in their 120 lb dogs’s mouth. The dog follows the ferrets around the house ocassionally picking them up with his teeth by the scruff of their necks. Exactly like a dog carries it’s pups. When the ferrets get too far away, the dog will pick them up and bring them back. It’s truly amazing to watch.
Don’t mix them with small rodents
Ferrets are carnivours, they have instincts to kill and have even by used by hunters to chase rabbits out of their holes. This is where the term ‘ferreting’ comes from.
If you have small rabbits, mice, rats, birds, etc… in your home. Be aware that your ferrets just might view it as lunch. As a matter of fact, some ferret owners provide their pet with live chicks or mice as food. Be aware of this if there is a chance they will be left together in a room. You just may come back to one hell of a surprise !
